Product details description
Concertina wire (spiral-wrapped razor wire) is a high-security barrier. Unlike straight lines, the coiled design creates a spring-like tension that makes it incredibly difficult to cut or climb.
Tools and Materials
Concertina coils, mounting brackets (spigots or wall clips), tension bars, lacing wire, and post clamps.
Installation Process
Spacing: Install support posts every 10-15 feet. The coil usually covers this span in one go, but intermediate supports prevent sagging.
Uncoiling: Safety Warning: Wear heavy gloves and eye protection. Unroll the coil carefully. The wire is under tension and can snap back violently.
Mounting: Secure the coil to the top rail or wall using stainless steel clips. Do not use standard steel clips outdoors, as they will rust and seize.
Tensioning: This is critical. Use a "stretcher bar" or come-along tool to pull the spiral tight. A loose coil acts like a slinky and can be climbed. It should be taut like a drum skin.
Lacing: Use lacing wire to connect adjacent coils if running a continuous line. This prevents gaps and ensures the entire fence acts as one unit.
Maintenance
Inspect the zinc coating annually. If you see "red rust," the integrity is compromised, and the section needs replacement immediately.
